Decide what to do with competitor brand searches in your account

Spend and conversions from competitor brand queries, a check on who bids on your brand, and a keep-or-exclude decision per term.

When to use it

When people search competitor brand names and trigger your ads, and you don't know whether that spend pays off.

What you get

A per-term keep, watch or exclude decision with spend and cost per conversion, plus a negative keyword preview added only after you approve.

Does it change anything in my account?

Only with your approval. The assistant first shows a preview of every change and waits for your go-ahead.

[competitor brand names][competitor domains][my brand name]
Pull my search terms for the last 90 days and find every term that contains one of these competitor brand names: [competitor brand names]. Include misspellings. For each term, show: cost, clicks, conversions, cost per conversion and CTR. Compare each with my account average cost per conversion. Then check the paid keywords of [competitor domains] and tell me whether any of them bid on my brand name, [my brand name]. Apply this decision rule to every competitor brand term: - Cost per conversion up to 1.5x my average, with at least 2 conversions: keep it, and suggest a dedicated ad group so I can control bids and copy. - Spend above 2x my average cost per conversion with zero conversions: add it as a phrase match negative keyword at campaign level. - Anything in between: keep watching, no action yet. If competitors bid on my brand, tell me whether my brand campaign's impression share looks affected. Show the proposed negative keywords as a preview with their estimated monthly savings. Do not add anything until I approve.
