How viewers find our YouTube videos: traffic source shift report
A breakdown of views and watch time by traffic source for 28 and 90 days, showing share shifts and whether the channel depends on its own promotion.
When to use it
When management asks how people actually find your YouTube videos and you suspect growth depends on your own promotion.
What you get
A traffic source table with 28 vs 90 day share shifts, a clear verdict on weak discovery, promotion dependence and Shorts shift, and a two-sentence content planning takeaway.
Does it change anything in my account?
No. The assistant only reads your data and reports back.

Show management how people find our videos on the YouTube channel [channel name].
1. Pull traffic sources for the last 28 days and for the last 90 days.
2. Build one table with one row per source type (YouTube search, suggested, browse, Shorts, external, playlists, subscriptions, other). Use these columns:
- views and watch time (min) for 28 days,
- share of views % for 28 days,
- share of views % for 90 days,
- difference in percentage points.
3. Apply these rules and state the result clearly:
- **Weak discovery:** YouTube search plus suggested is below 40% of views in the last 28 days.
- **Promotion-dependent channel:** external sources are above 25% of views. The channel relies on our own promotion, which is not sustainable without spend or social effort.
- **Format shift:** Shorts gained more than 10 points of share versus the 90-day baseline.
4. Finish with two sentences:
- the main change,
- what it means for content planning.
Report only. Do not change anything.
