RSA headline challenger test without losing ad history

Finds the weakest headlines inside your existing responsive search ads, writes challengers that test new angles, and edits the ads in place after your approval so their history stays intact.

When to use it

When your Google responsive search ads have underperforming headlines and you want to test better ones without creating new ads and losing their history.

What you get

A table of weak headlines with new challenger headlines testing different angles, edited into your existing ads after your approval, plus the exact change date for a later before/after comparison.

Does it change anything in my account?

Only with your approval. The assistant first shows a preview of every change and waits for your go-ahead.

[campaign][account]
For Google Ads campaign [campaign] in account [account], run a headline challenger test inside the existing responsive search ads instead of building new ones. 1. Pull RSA asset performance for this campaign for the last 60 days (use min_impressions so tiny assets drop out). Then read each ad's full copy, current pins and Ad Strength with get_ad_details. If the asset report does not return conversion rate for a headline, calculate it from conversions and clicks. If neither conversions nor clicks are usable for a row, judge that headline on CTR only and say so. 2. For each ad, identify up to 2 weak headlines. A headline counts as weak if it has at least 1,000 impressions and its CTR or conversion rate is below 70% of that ad's average across its headlines with 1,000+ impressions. If an ad has fewer than 3 headlines above 1,000 impressions, skip it and tell me there is not enough data yet. 3. For each weak headline, write 2 challenger headlines of 30 characters or fewer. Each one must test a different angle (price, proof, urgency, specific benefit). Do not just write synonyms of the old line. The first challenger replaces the weak headline. Add the second one only if the ad stays at 15 headlines or fewer; otherwise keep it as a backup for the next round. 4. Keep existing pins as they are. If a weak headline is itself pinned, give its replacement the same pin position and flag it in the table, because changing a pinned line changes every impression of that position. Output a table with these columns: ad group, ad ID, current headline, pin, impressions, CTR, conversions, proposed replacement, angle tested, new character count, and Ad Strength now. 5. Edit the ads in place with update_rsa using the partial mode (remove_headlines and add_headlines), so each ad keeps its ID and performance history. Run it with confirm=false first, show me every preview, and apply only the ones I approve. 6. After applying, tell me the exact date and time of the change and confirm it with get_change_history (resource type AD_GROUP_AD). I will save that date myself so we can later compare equal 30-day windows before and after with rsa_asset_performance.
